Cornell Food and Brand Lab Internship
Summer 2013
Hometown: Paris, France
Undergraduate: Concordia University (Canada), 2013
Major/Minor: Marketing/International Business
Future: As of now, my tentative plan is to go to graduate school for a
degree more specialized in Food Marketing
Summer Projects:
Healthy Supermarkets Study, Food In Motion Study, Nutritional Facts
Colour Study, and Pleasure as a Function Study
Healthy Supermarkets Study: This study involved analyzing and
categorizing pre-obtained observations of consumer shopping behavior
and writing a paper about how supermarkets could encourage
consumers to eat more fruits and vegetables.
Food In Motion Study: This study involved designing a survey on
Qualtrics, running it online, analyzing the results and writing up a
paper about how implied motion can lead to biased perceptions of
freshness, appeal and health.
Advice for Future Interns:
This internship requires motivation and perseverance. However, once you have an idea or a project in mind that you really are passionate about, these will become natural. The Food and Brand lab is a very intellectually stimulating environment. Don’t be afraid to talk to Dr. Wansink or any other advisor about your ideas, even if you think they are not excellent. They might not be excellent ideas right now, but by telling and explaining your reason to believe they are, you might just be onto something very “neat”, so don’t hesitate!
In addition, once you leave the lab, the beautiful campus of Cornell and its surroundings are waiting for you: the plantations, the bell tower, the town of Ithaca and its nearby Gorges are extremely agreeable during the summer.
