Who Should Apply for the Internship?

EXPECTATIONS

At the Food and Brand Lab we are all about fun, discovery, and dissemination. Successful interns are people who are self-motivated, curious, interested in food, and want to have a unique impact on the world – even if they’re not sure what exactly that is.

There is no required major or coursework to be an intern at the Food and Brand Lab. People of all sorts of majors apply (anthropology, dietetics, chemical engineering, math, veterinary medicine, psychology, history). In the past the majority of applicants (3 out of 4) are undergraduate students or just graduated from undergraduate programs. And about 35-40% of all interns are international.

After interning at the Food and Brand Lab interns go on to do a wide variety of things. About one quarter goes on to terminal degree programs (law, medicine, veterinary, MBA, MS). A quarter goes on to a PhD program to pursue a career in academia.  About one quarter goes into consulting or business management. The last quarter go on to a large variety of miscellaneous jobs, including degrees in public health and working for the Food Network.
