Future: I’m hoping to get a job in food marketing and consumer behavior

Summer Projects:

Engineering Adherence to Dieting and Exercise Routines:

Here I combined insights and tips from a group qualitative interviews

about why people don’t adhere certain programs and what can be

done to help. From this data, I also wrote a paper on ways to help people

adhere to checking their blood glucose levels.

Are Complicated Products to Assemble More Expensive?:

This involved designing an online study to see whether people think

that products that are harder to assemble are perceived as more

expensive.

Are Big Companies Perceived as Evil?: This involved designing an

online study to see whether people think big companies are perceived

as more evil.

Smarter Lunchrooms: The impact the new USDA regulations have had on food waste”: This involved reviewing the current research on the smarter lunchrooms movement, and summarizing a list of cost-effective interventions which would be used to increase participation.

Advice for Future Interns:

If you have a passion for food and consumer research, this is the perfect internship for you. Get involved with as much as you can; there’s so much experience that can be gained from this internship! At times you’ll have a lot of work, but you’ll never feel pressured and ultimately you get what you want out of it. As well as this, Ithaca’s beautiful surroundings are so relaxing, that a lot of the time it feels more like a holiday. Finally, if you love waterfalls like me, you will be in heaven!
